How to Block Popups on iPhone: using iOS built in popup blocker

If you are being hassled by pop-up ads on the iPhone, you can block them completely by following the instructions below:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Select safari
  3. Scroll down to ‘general’ then toggle the ‘block pop-ups’ setting to the on position

Voila! No more nasty pop-ups.

iOS 9.3 bug – Safari crashing when links/permalinks are clicked

As you may have experienced or seen in the ether of online news, there is a ‘glitch’ (I think bug describes it more accurately but Apple don’t like that word) with the latest update of iOS (9.3).

What is it?

 This is a known issue with iOS 9.3 – Apple have acknowledged the issue and will provide a fix in the next software update. This bug can affect any device running iOS 9.3 however some users experience it and others do not.

Temporary fix

 A temporary fix would be to use Chrome, Dolphin or Opera Mini. You can do this by downloading your preferred browser from the App Store.

UPDATE: 1/4/16

Within hours of writing this article apple have issued a software update to address this issue.

Permanent Fix

 A permanent fix has now been issued in the form of iOS 9.3.1, to install this update go to the Settings app, then select general and then software update. Here you should be able to download and install the latest version of iOS.
